Artice 1
The Environmental, Cultural and Tourist Association "Il Pettirosso" has organized the sixth edition of "Il Giardino dei Corti", an international short film festival that will be held in Venticano (AV) on Thursday 3th and Friday 1th September, 2010
The Festival offers a visible space for a spontaneous art to all those who have chosen the language of cinema (shorts, video, documentaries and so on) to express their original point of view on the real world.
Article 2
All works from different countries produced from 2007 onwards are eligible to participate to the festival and must be submitted on DVD video format. The inscription to the Festival is free and open to all different kind of works (fiction, videoclips, videoart, documentary, animation, and so on) having a maximum length of 15 minutes (including opening and closing titles). In case of particular merits, some works will be allowed to the festival even if they last a few minutes more. Works which have already been screened in some of our previous contests will not be admitted.

Entry forms (available on our site www.ilpettirosso.eu) must be filled in, stamped and sent along with a double copy of the DVD video. The submission form must be duly signed by the author or the responsible of the copyright in which he states to be the regular holder of the rights to use the video, to have read the rules and to accept them unconditionally. All forms not correctly filled in or without signature will be excluded from the festival. An entry form is required for each film.
Two copies of the video in DVD format video PAL are required. You may submit more than one film, but each one must be on a separate DVD and must be accompanied by its own completed entry form. Videos must be sent in good condition without timecode or any other titles do not refer to the work itself. All non-Italian films must have Italian sub-titles.
Postal charges are at participants’ expense. Taxed envelopes will not be accepted. The organisation cannot be held liable for materials which may be delayed, lost or damaged.
The Festival will not confirm receipt of film submitted by telephone. If you would like to make sure that we received your submission, please enclose a self-address, stamped postcard which we will send back to you as your confirmation or your e-mail address.
Article 4
The association “Il Pettirosso” reserves the right to itself to make a pre-selection of the works that will participate to the final phase of the contest.. The chosen works will be presented on the 2th and 3th of September 2010.
A qualified jury, which will be chosen by the organizers among experts of this filed, will appraise the participating shorts and award the following prizes:
1st prize: 500 euro and certificate for the best short film;
2nd prize: 250 euro and certificate for the second classed;
3rd prize: 150 euro and certificate for the third classed.
Certificate of merit will also be awarded to:
~ The best direction;
~ The best subject;
~ The best picture;
~ The best original soundtrack;
~ The best actor;
~ The best actress.
The audience participating to the screening of the finalists’ will award the special prize “Giuria Popolare” by voting their favourite choice on special forms.
The “Rachelina Ambrosini” foundation, which as always been involved in solidarity, will participate to the festival awarding a special prize to the best short which will concern social issues.
Each selected work for the final phase will be awarded with a certificate of participation.
The cash awards can be collected only by the winners during the awards ceremony scheduled on 3th September 2010 at the headquarters of Il Pettirosso.
The organisation reserves the right to itself to award further prizes to the works that the jury will mention as worth of merit.
Article 5
The jury’s judgement is undisputable. Participants can ask the jury or the organisation for a motivated judgement and/or an evaluation form exclusively for their own work.
The jury or the festival committee can exclude from the festival works that:
~ have been realized by members of the jury or by organizers of the festival (for whom is available a participation out of contest);
~ do not have a submission form or do not have a signature on the submission form as well as submission form lacking of information.
Article 6
All works that will be received, including those that will not be selected, will not be returned to participants. Il Pettirosso is permitted to retain DVD copies of each film selected as part of their festival library and might use them even after the contest for media educational use, for cultural aims for no sake of gain, for exchanges with other associations and to promote the festival both in Italy and abroad.
All participants who will send works, by filling in and signing the entry form, assumes full responsibility on the content of it and declares that does not violate existing laws or the rights of anyone nor contains any defamatory issues.
The authors of all works will be the sole responsible for any legal obligation relating to copyright issues and the organisation will not be responsible for the contents of the shorts screened in public.
Participants to the contest, by submitting the entry form, allow the association “Il Pettirosso”, the event organizer, to process information privacy of personal data according to the D.L. n.196/2003 and to eventual further modification and integration, exclusively for purposes related to the competition and to festivals related to it. In case of misinterpretation with the translation of this document, the Italian version will stand as proof.
Article 7
All information referring to the competition program, participants, selection and eventual communication will be published on the website www.ilpettirosso.eu where you can find a copy of the rules and regulation of the competition as well as the submission form.
The organisation may change part of this regulation by communicating it to potential concerned participants trhough the website or by e-mail.

All filmmakers whose short will be selected will be personally notified (via email or phone) of acceptance and will be invited to participate to the festival in the beautiful association’s garden “ Giardino delle Erbe Spontanee”.
